It’s all happening! Can you believe it’s already been 16 weeks since we opened? We can’t either! Thank you Nashville for packing the house every Saturday night. We couldn’t do it without you! And if you haven’t been to see our show yet, what the hell are you waiting for?

Last Friday I had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly with the world-renowned Blue Angels, who are easily some of the most skilled pilots on the planet. It was a thrilling experience to say the least and I’d like to thank Jim Havey PR for giving me the opportunity to do so. I wasn’t the only gal in town with a Byrd’s Eye View. The adorable Kellie Pickler got in on the action and you can see a few shots from her flight above.

American Songwriter has some great shots of last night’s show with Jack White and the Alabama Shakes at the Ryman Auditorium. They are also featuring a story on my gal Sara Jean Kelley. Take a look here.

SAVOR NASHVILLE RETURNS!

Celebrity chefs and food challenges spice up a weekend of events

The stars of our country’s hottest kitchens are headed to Nashville for the return of “Savor,” an exciting culinary event presented by Nashville Lifestyles Magazine and Maserati, Bentley and Rolls Royce of Nashville. And with hosts like those, it’s sure to be an event you won’t want to miss.

The event kicks off on Saturday, May 19th with a very special dinner at The Hutton Hotel featuring a menu created by celebrity chefs Bruce Moffett, a 2009 James Beard Best Chef Southeast Award Nominee from Charlotte, NC and James Boyce, a 20-year industry veteran who helped to launch Le Cirque in NYC, amongst many other jewels on his resume.

Guests will also be treated to a private performance from Grammy Award winning songwriters Tim Nichols and Marv Green as well as a silent auction packed with fabulous goodies.

The celebration will continue on Sunday afternoon when Nashville’s finest chefs will compete in a cook-off at the Union Station Hotel utilizing one of three ingredients made right here in Music City - Goo Goo Clusters, Benton’s Bacon or Jack Daniels Honey. I, for one, can’t wait to see what they come up with.

Learn more about this fantastic event and score your own tickets right here.

Here’s a list of the competing chefs:

Jeremy Barlow from tayst, Sloco and Local Kitchen Catering
Thomas Cook from Prime 108
Brandon Frohne from Rutland Place Catering, Nashville Urban Gardeners
Giovannia Giosa from Porta Via
Matthew Lackey from Flyte World Dining
Deb Paquette from Etch
Kevin Ramquist from F. Scott’s Restaurant & Jazz Bar
Jarvan Springer from West End Cafe
Robert Spinelli from perl Catering
Keith West from Puckett’s Grocery and Restaurant

DRINKIN’ & DRAWIN’

Tomorrow evening I will be trying my hand at something I’m completely unskilled at while simultaneously doing something I’m a self-proclaimed ‘expert’ in. That’s right folks, it’s time for another installment of Drinkin’ & Drawin.’

And if you guessed that I’m a skilled drinker and a terrible artist, well then sadly, you’re absolutely right. You can see what I’m talking about right here as this is one of my napkin-drawing masterpieces of my buddy Tommy Putnam from the band Moon Taxi and well, this just doesn’t look anything like him at all. Thankfully he has a sense of humor.Sorry Tommy. This looks nothing like you.

But I’m hoping to improve on those drawing skills under the direction of the multi-talented teacher of the class, Anthony Billups. (You can check out a few of my favorite drawings of his above by clicking on the photos.)

Billups is not only an adept visual artist but he’s a dexterous musician as well and he just released his debut album, “Old Soul Radio.” I encourage you to take a listen.

Another interesting tidbit about this fellow is the fact that he suffered a severe car accident in college that left him blind for two weeks and completely changed his perspective on life. Take a look at his video story here.

So friends, I invite you to join me tomorrow at Drinkin’ & Drawin’ with Anthony Billups. The fun kicks off at 7pm sharp at The Building on the east side, which is located just behind Drifter’s in Five Points. Tickets are $30 each for returning students and $50 for first-timers but the cost of admission includes all your drawing supplies and of course, all the beer you can drink. See you there!

Working on the committee for Lexus Nashville Fashion Week 2012 was one of the most rewarding experiences I have had in a very long time. Not only was it an amazing opportunity to experience some fabulous fashion moments in Music City but the team I had the pleasure to work with are unparalleled for their dedication, ambition and commitment to making the event a total success. Thank you so very much to Cindy Wall, Zarna Surti, Tabitha Tune Ong, Andy Evinger, Dustin Lewis, Nancie Kang, Andrew Scudder, Daniel Perry, Jake Giles Netter, Ben Rigsby and his team from Snapshot Interactive and all the wonderful people who made this event possible.
Be sure to check out all the coverage, photos and videos from Lexus Nashville Fashion Week right here.

I’m really digging these gorgeous photos shot by Ash Wright Photography from Eliot Lipp’s performance at the Red Bull Music Academy event at 12th and Porter last Saturday night.
